LG to Expand RD Workforce in Components, Raw Materials

LG is planning a major expansion of the workforce at LG Chemical, LG Innotek, and LG Micron. With 1,600 researchers currently, LG Chemical expects to have 3,500 people by 2013, focusing on researching the raw materials of informational electronics such as rechargeable batteries and display. LG Innotek intends to increase their researchers from 400 to 800 by 2008, concentrating on the research of LCD modules and camera modules. Having only a staff of 100 right now, LG Micron plans to add 600 more by 2010, with the research focusing on PDP rear panels and optical masks.
